I feel like we’re going back in time today, as we drove from Lebanon to Carthage (yes, we’re still in Mo! We finished up the few things from Lebanon on our way out of town. They have a small Route 66 Museum in their library. They did such a good job with it!

I had to get a photo of the Munger Moss hotel sign before it becomes no more. The property has been sold and who knows what comes next with it. If they don’t restore the place, I hope the sign makes it to the neon park in St. Roberts.

We stopped by Boswell Park – well, because Boswell (I grew up in Boswell PA) – and after typing it 3 times, it doesn’t even look right any more, but anyway, that’s what we did before stopping at an odd little outlet ‘mall’ on our way out of town.
A little south of Springfield, we took a side trip to the Wilson Creek Battlefield National Park. I don’t know why, but I didn’t think the civil war made it this far west – yes, I was educated today in the Missouri Compromise and the battles that did take place out this far west. I’m surprised we even became a united country.

Back on the trail of Route 66, we hit a few other abandoned places, some restored places and finally coming into Carthage for the night
We stayed at Boots Court. It is the cutest place and really takes you back in time

And that concludes Day 8. Thanks for reading along 🙂 And leave comments!
