Day 3 was another day in the St. Louis area. We started by back tracking back up to Mt. Olive to get Soulsby Service Station

Followed by the Route 66 Large Chair:

Yup, that’s it, a large chair. Sometimes you just have to go for the kitch. As we were driving yesterday, I saw this beautiful church – and low and behold, it was actually on the list.

Then a stop at the Pink Elephant. We didn’t go in, this time, just enjoyed. We finished Illinois by going over the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge and the McKinley Bridge into Missouri. We drove by a number of St. Louis places that weren’t open on Monday, or weren’t open any longer.
Our final stop for this leg of the trip was It’s Electric – Neon Sign Park in Granite City, Illinois. (ok, so we didn’t officially finish Illinois until evening). This is a new Route 66 feature (as of 2024) in support of the 100th anniversary next year.

OK, the one below isn’t from the park, but from the movie theater down the street. It just called to me.

Day 4 will keep us in Missouri – we’ll be going to Eureka!
